Quartz Composer

May 7, 2005

The Apple Quartz Composer application looks really beautiful. Darren – remember those conversations we were having over lunch about being able to plug things together and hook up properties of UI elements up to each other – it would look something like this (although a bit lighter).

Matt Mikulicz posted up on his blog about a series of web-casts orientated at new comers to .NET and C# using Video Game Development as the problem domain. Cool!

I’m definately going to watch them as they come out. While I’m comfortable with C# and .NET, I’d love to know more about the practical sides of writing a computer game.

Marcelo gives a great coverage of Avalon’s drag and drop features over on his blog. If you are familiar with drag-and-drop in Windows Forms its not terribly different, which makes sense because Avalon has to work and play with existing Windows applications as well.

While Marcelo did put a big disclaimer around it, passing XAML through drag-and-drop does open up some interesting possibilities, if only you could think of a way to lock it down.
