Blog Clippings #2

Here is my second round of blog clippings.

  1. Joe Duffy is starting on a Parallel LINQ project at Microsoft, and they are looking for people to join the team.
  2. A post by Bart de Smet which shows how to invoke MS Agent (Merlin specifically) from PowerShell. I can see system administrators doing evil with this πŸ™‚
  3. The PowerShell team reminds us that there are only two weeks left in the PowerShell Scripting Sweepstakes. Unfortunatey it is not open to Australian’s but it might be fun to submit anyway – there are some pretty cool prizes.
  4. PowerGadgets does some awesome stuff by visualising the output of PowerShell pipelines. This is a great gadget framework for system administrators.
  5. It looks like my co-workers are getting the word out about Juval Lowy coming to Australia.
  6. According to Rod Drury, Greg, the yellow Wiggle is calling it quits. My wife who is way more plugged into this world already knew.
  7. Jeff Jarvis over at the BuzzMachine blog reflects on the decline of broadcast television and the increase of commercial cable and streaming content off the Internet.
  8. Tomas Restrepo raises a good point on error handling around the ServiceHost with WCF. Consistency is key in the framework – and WCF is part of the framework.
  9. Loren over at Incremental Blogger shows off a WPF gadget that accepts ink.
  10. Frank points us to the WPF/E development centre on MSDN. Unfortunately it doesn’t quite look like it is all there – maybe it went live too early?
  11. Long Zheng shows how to hide certain pieces of file system content from the Vista search mechanism. We actually got this question from one of the audience members at the Ready Summit in Melbourne. They asked how to hide videos πŸ™‚

Until next time!
